I Appreciate You
If the only thing you were able to do
today was to hold it together for a minute more, be proud of yourself
– I am proud of you for getting there and going one minute
more.
If you went a little further, be proud of what you
accomplished. You got up. It wasn't easy after the nightmare you may
have had.
Give yourself grace for the moment you lashed out at
someone because you were triggered.
If all you could do was
hold back the words you wanted to say, and instead you smiled and
carried on, you did great. Give yourself some appreciation for
holding your temper or tongue.
Perhaps you gave the last smile
you could muster at work after a day of persisting in holding it
together. I appreciate you smiling even when you believed you didn't
have any more energy to be kind that day. It made my day a little
brighter, knowing you thought enough of me to offer me all you
had.
I appreciate you for taking on the day when you felt it
painful to make one more decision, listen to one more person tell you
how great their day is, how happy another one was, and all you wanted
to do was cry.
Your friends and I appreciate you for the
strength it takes to carry the shame – but it's not yours to carry.
Can I ask you...are you ready to let it go?
You have survived
this long; you can go one more day; go a little more distance. There
is a way you can release all this and be free with peace. No more
hyper-vigilance, no more fear, and the tears fall only with
joy.
When you're ready, when you have only one last talk left,
reach out to me. I'm here for you, to appreciate you, hold space for
you, and assist you in letting go.
One last thing. I
appreciate the courage it takes to share with a stranger your story
and show up for yourself with hope.
Grow with Love,
S
